QUESTIONS TO THE CAT EXPERTS:

Date: May 5, 2008
Question:
I’m getting two kittens in about 6-7 weeks, the owner will give them the basic vaccinations, but, will i need to bring them to my local vet to have a through check over? Also, at what age should i bring them to see the vet? What is the average cost for this type of check up?
Sarah

Yes, they definitely need to get established with your veterinarian. Generally, the first check-up and vaccinations occur at 6-8 weeks of age, and then they need to be seen every 4 weeks until they are 16 weeks of age. I can't give you an answer about cost - it varies widely depending on the area of the country you are in. Any clinic will be able to tell you that if you give them a call. Have fun with your new kittens!
