QUESTIONS TO THE CAT EXPERTS:

Date: May 5, 2008
Question:
My cat's right side of his face is very swollen and his nose is too. He's 8 years old and an indoor cat. We took him to the vet about a week ago and they gave him steriods and something for an alergic reaction. It went down a little for about 3 days and now it's right back to being very swollen. Any thoughts of what it could be? i'm very tight on money, so i don't want to have a ton of testing done. He doens't seem to be in pain and he's not itching his face at all.

There are many possibilities here - everything from an infected tooth to cancer to more severe allergies. I'm sorry, but this is something that may require some testing to figure out what it is - check with your vet about the possibility of payment plans such as Care Credit, or an area shelter that might provide assistance for low income families. Good luck!
