QUESTIONS TO THE CAT EXPERTS:

Date: Jul 15, 2008
Question:
My 1 year old male cay (an indoor only cat) has been licking his tail like crazy. Just the tip & it looks like only the fur. He gets it really wet with saliva and when he is done the fur feels hard. Almost like it would if there was dried blood. (there has never been blood - just wanted a comparison) What can this be? Should I worry & rush him to a vet? He doesn't do it all day, but at least 2-3 times a day.
Marisa

I would definitely get him in to a vet. This can be a problem such as an allergy, a nerve injury, or many other things, but they should be able to make him more comfortable. Good luck!
