QUESTIONS TO THE CAT EXPERTS:

Date: Jul 17, 2008
Question:
My Persian cat Angus is 14 Years old and used to be very healthy. But for the past 10 days, he has not been eating anything but drinking a lot more water than usual. A recent strange behaviour is that my cat always waits by the patio door for it to open so he can lick the concrete slab step. My parents cannot afford to see a vet. What can i do to help him besides the vet? He is still able to move and play but we are worried about his body. It is very skinny and become all bone. How could i help to make him eat again? Should I change cat food? he usually eats Whiskas cat food, SAlmon flavour.
Kenneth

You NEED to take the cat to the vet. There is no getting around it. With an older pet, there could be a number of things medically wrong with him, so the doctor will need to run blood tests to figure out the appropriate course of treatment.

Not to be rude, but providing medical treatment is part of being a pet owner. It is the responsible thing to do and the humane thing to do. You do not want him to suffer.
