QUESTIONS TO THE CAT EXPERTS:

Date: Aug 28, 2008
Question:
I have a 13 year old female cat who has always been healthy and well cared for. Just today I noticed a patch of fur missing on her side, back near her right leg. She shows no signs of being in pain or irritated at all. There is no itching, no redness, no scratch marks, no cuts. There is no change in appetite or any other unusual behavior. She is an indoor cat. What could be the cause of the hair loss? I am very worried about her, but money is a big problem for me right now, and I don't want to pay for a vet just to be told it's nothing. Please help!
Allison

Hair loss is definitely not nothing - get her in to the vet as soon as possible. Possible diagnoses include allergies, parasites, pain, infection, and many other potential issues.
