QUESTIONS TO THE CAT EXPERTS:

Date: Dec 10, 2008
Question:
Hi, I am consulting again, it has been over two months and things are about the same at coco and marie's home. CoCo is the 11 year old and Marie is now the 7 1/2 month f kitty, both are fixed. CioCo is still hiding under the bed in the spare room. they are still seperated when we go to work and at night the kitten sleep in our bed with the door closed. My husband tells me the doors should just be open but the last time this happened Coco would not move under the bed and did not go to the bathroom until the kitten was locked up again, (she has a litter box, food, water in her bedroom but will only use the litter box down stair's). coco knows as soon as the door is closed and marie is away she will come out. When they have met coco is still hissing and spitting the other day she screamed so loud, it was frighting. the baby, not a baby anymore will back up but now she's going after her. I have Feliway in every room, no help and I don't want to leave them two alone when i am not home. please help, as you always do. once again, frustrated kitty owner geri

Unfortunately, some cats prefer (rather demand) it be a one cat (or one pet) household. They usually start acting out by fighting the other animals and/or having litter box issues.

A friend of mine had a cat that would constantly get beat up by her other two cats, so the cat lived upstairs. The entire upstairs was her and the other cats stayed downstairs. You'll just have to divide your time between the two cats, so no one feels unloved.
