QUESTIONS TO THE CAT EXPERTS:

Date: Dec 10, 2008
Question:
Since I got my new cat in May, I occasionally find single spots of blood around the litter box and lately his stool has been soft, still formed but very soft. He doesn't seem to be in pain anywhere and I can't see any open wounds. Should I be concerned?
Anne

Occasional blood spots in the stool are nothing to be too concerned about, but when it is consistent, you should have a vet check him out. In younger cats, it could be a sign of intestinal parasites, where in older cats, it can signify far more serious concerns.
