QUESTIONS TO THE CAT EXPERTS:

Date: Dec 10, 2008
Question:
My cat is a female 14 yrs old, spayed and declawed, never been outside. Recently, she has no energy, and sleeps a lot and is not eating near as much. She is losing weight, but is drinking water and uses her litter box just fine. She is not around any other cats, we have one dog who is outside . She does act hungry at night, but and I have always given her dry cat food, IAMS, but just recently switched to Purina, which she was eating a little better, for a few days. I have tried wet cat food, she ate it very well for about two weeks, then stopped. What do I do ? I really do not have money for the vet right now.
Patricia Bowman

You really need to take the cat to a vet. Not eating and being lethargic are tell-tale signs that something is medically not right with her. And with her age, it could be a number of things, and if not taken care of promptly, could turn into something much worse.
