My beloved kitty

This was very cruel from your husband.

It is true that some cats carry and pass in their feces a parasite called Toxoplasma. This organism can be harmful if a pregnant woman becomes infected, leading to problems for the fetus. This does not, however, mean you necessarily need to get rid of your cats if you are pregnant.

This is a very good conversation to have with your OB/GYN - they can make recommendations regarding your safety during your pregnancy. In general, and again consult your doctor, if you wash your hands after touching your cat and avoid litter box duty, you should be OK.

You can get your cat back.
